Why should fitness be your top priority in life?
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” – Jim Rohn
We all wish to have the perfect body. One that’s free from any ailments and diseases and has a nice shape thus making our clothes look good on us, letting us carry out our daily tasks efficiently, and make us more attractive over all.
Although we want all this, the truth is not of all us are willing to work for it. And one of the main reasons for not willing to put in the work is because it feels like hard work and a lot of sacrifice.
Getting fit has been made out to be a hard and arduous journey – a perception which is completely wrong. On the contrary, it is possibly the most fun thing to do. You can find out how to work your way to optimum fitness here.
You owe it to your body to keep it in a good shape because you are going to live with it all your life, which means the better your fitness levels the better your life.
In this post, let’s look at some of the important reasons as to why should you focus on fitness. Let’s dive right in.
1. Fit people don’t fall sick frequently
Working on your fitness strengthens your immune system which means less sick days. This translates into more days on your feet than in the bed or at home, less sick leaves and hence more vacations (you should already be convinced; who doesn’t like vacations after all since you get to travel. If for some reason you don’t like to travel, read this to find out why you should).
Another benefit of staying fit is minimal hospital bills and hence maximum spends/investments on your favorite stuff, and no more popping pills.
All this means a longer life with a better quality of life. I am pretty sure it’s more fun to jump into water than watching others because you always catch cold when you do it.
I hope this is enough to convince you to work on your fitness, though there are other reasons too. Read on.
2. Fit people are generally happier
Every time you work out or indulge in any physical activity, the body releases happiness hormones Endorphin and Dopamine, which energize you, make you feel happier and put you in a good mood.
The biggest struggle for people is to get themselves to the gym. It’s always a tough job to drag yourself out of bed, get dressed and head outside. Once you make it to the gym (or the park or your balcony) though, you always come back happier.
No better way to start the day than with some workout and spend the rest of your day kicking ass (you may choose to workout in the evening, depending on your preference; no hard and fast rule here; the idea is to keep it fun, remember).
3. Optimum Fitness = Good physique = Good Looks = More Confidence = Better Performance in every aspect of life
Staying in shape means not only feeling good inside but also looking good on the outside. And howsoever much people may deny the role of looks, it is true that good looks is an advantage in the real world.
Looking good not only gets you noticed and helps create a positive first impression, but also makes you feel happier and more confident about yourself.
This confidence in turn translates into a rocking performance in every aspect of life, be it at work, or in the sports you like to play, or in your sex life.
Also, a confident human attracts other confident human to himself/herself, thus forming the right social circles.
4. Exercise makes your brain sharper
Exercising has been shown to change our brain in a way that not only protects our memory and thinking skills but also aids in new cell growth, making us sharper and preventing age-related decline in our memory.
And the good thing is that it doesn’t have to be a specific form of exercising. You could jog, run, lift weights, play sports, go swimming or indulge in any other physical activity. Pick an activity that you enjoy and that makes you sweat and voila! There’s no secret ingredient here, except consistency.
You can choose the time, place and method. Just stay consistent.
Remember, fitness is made up from the holy trinity of exercise, diet and rest. And I have got you covered on all these aspects here.
The only person standing in your way is you. I strongly hope that at least some, if not all, of the benefits of working on your fitness will resonate with you and will inspire you to get started right away. No more waiting, no more procrastinating. You hold the key to your dream life and this is a step in that direction. Time to get started. NOW!
Until next time.
